The North Rhine-Westphalia – Jiangsu Economic and Trade Forum was held Tuesday afternoon in Nanjing. Representatives of governments, enterprises and academia from both China and Germany have focused on the construction of a global intelligent city.

 The Forum was co-organized by Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The theme of the forum is “construction of a global intelligent city”. Speakers and participants shared their thoughts on how to build an intelligent city from the aspects of intelligent transportation, intelligent life to sustainable urban development.

 Several cooperative agreements were signed during the forum. China University of Mining and Technology and Germany's RWTH Aachen University have agreed to cooperate on scientific research. NRW.INVEST, Germany and Nanjing Wande Group have signed a landing agreement, and the Jiangsu Football Association and three German League football teams have established cooperative relations in the field of scientific research and teaching.

2018 marks the 30th anniversary of NRW and Jiangsu Province, and the two sides have made great achievements in economic and trade cooperation. Currently, about half of the Jiangsu companies that invest in Germany choose to settle in NRW, and a third of the German companies invested in Jiangsu come from NRW.
