2018 marks the 40th anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening-Up Policy. Jiangsu International Channel, Litchi news and Ourjiangsu.com present you with a special series called Foreigners’ Perspectives of 4 Decades of Reform and Opening-Up by interviewing foreigners of various sectors to share their views on China’s development in the past 4 decades. In the first episode, we will present you the interviews with the ambassadors of 4 Latin America countries to China.
Opening-Up is an irreversible trend in the world nowadays. I think under the current circumstances, many countries are actually retrograding in the aspect of opening up to the outside world. For China, "opening up to the outside world" is not only a promise, but also a concrete implementation of the country's construction.
China is taking a very strong leadership when it comes to what we have today, trade wars and trade collisions. So we have a same position in fact and we congratulate president Xi for opening up more. I think that gives a lot of opportunities to China’s trade partners like us, for instance. So we look this with a lot of optimism. I think it was a very good move for China to do that, especially in the moments we live now.
We have been celebrating together for the forty years anniversary of reform and opening-up. We do it because Mexico has followed the similar pattern in the last thirty, thirty-five years. We have nothing to say in terms of the level of the development that China has today. But Mexico is a developing country and an emerging economy, we are doing also our job. Every time that we are getting together, in China and Mexico, we commit ourselves to not only bilateral cooperation but also to keep international markets open. So the new changes in the Chinese public policies are very important for the world, for Mexico particular, because we are working on this idea of keeping the borders open, of building new bridges, not walls.
China is Chile's largest trading partner. We have a long history of trade relationship with China. Chile has a lot of high value-added products for export, and Chile's economy is also very dependent on its long-term cooperation with China.
